We are thrilled to be launching into 2019 with an exciting new project on the horizon.

But first much gratitude to all of you who donated so generously and have helped to make this project possible!

We are pleased to announce that on SUN MAY 19TH, 7:30pm @ The Orpheum Annex in Vancouver we are  presenting Deep Roots, Contemporary Dance Concert featuring Miki Orihara (former principle dancer with The Martha Graham Dance Company) and Dezza Dance.

Ms. Orihara performs a suite of celebrated solos to live piano music- including the legendary "Lamentation" first performed by Martha Graham herself.

Watch my recent video interview with Miki OVER HERE >>>

I am collaborating with cellist Martin Reisle and contemporary dancers Juan Villegas and Rachel Helten to create a new work that dives deep into ancestral lineage, epigenetics and the quest of feeling truly at home.

I hope that you will spend part of your Victoria Day weekend with us for this one night only presentation of Deep Roots on Sunday May 19th @ 7:30pm.

We are deeply grateful for the assistance of Deux Milles Foundation, Vancouver Civic Theatres and the Artist in Residence Program at West Point Grey Community Centre.

We would like to announce that Dezza Dance has now become a registered non-profit so we are looking into new to funding collaborations and opportunities to enhance this unique programming for everyone

Potent Ground for Creativity

I teach how to deeply listen, hear, feel, intend, create and make art

Last year Brittany Dugan a Toronto dancer turned writer dropped by our Trout Lake Creative Collaborations class. She was tracing the history and benefits of community dance in Vancouver.

Her recent article in the Dance Current sheds awareness on the momentum of the community engaged practice particularly with marginalized folks like those down at Carnegie in the lower Eastside.

HELLO DANCE LOVAHS

We've been busy! The past few months we've been making Pilates videos, doing site-specific research, getting Arts Umbrella kids ready for their year-end recital, hosting Sweat Lodge Retreat in Lillooet, BC, the The Nest Urban Retreat and the Martha Graham 6 Week intensive.

Stay tuned for our special Summer Project being announced THURS MAY 31. Limited space.

Our Martha Graham Intensive is in full swing at the Kits Neighbourhood House and our Community Dancers are preparing for LINK and Arts & Health Showcase in May/ June.

Desirée recently returned form LA where she spake on a panel about her research in combining dance, embodied inquiry and energy healing. She's off to Florida next week for another conference to soak up some new ideas... and some sunshine.

We hope you can join us at the show March 10 & 11 at Moberly Arts & Cultural Centre.
