“Aberthau” is a Gaelic term meaning “filled with light” and it is our intention to welcome in the light for the land, all those that have walked on it, the century old home in which we practice and our individual and collective hearts.
This special presentation is what we call a “dance ceremony”.
Dance, gesture and spontaneous movement are used to get to new depths of understanding, reconciliation and closure in the face of difficult and seemingly impossible situations.
The ensemble of professional and intergenerational community dancers began sharing, embodying and healing personal histories earlier this year with lead artist Desirée Dunbar and musician Martin Reisle.
Stories from generations past held in the body and DNA emerge through embodied inquiry and healing is brought through energy medicine.
Music is an integral part of this journey and Martin Reisle, Cellist and composer is a key collaborator on the project.
Visual storytelling is also present through art projection created by Ezequiel Peralta (Buenos Aires, Argentina).
