SCHEDULE
Beginning now we gather in Jericho park at the little brown bridge every Tues & Thurs 10:30am-12pm for a research and creation of new choreography and a special Zoom workshop series to be shared in July 2021.
There will likely be 1 or 2 additional rehearsals scheduled outside regular time. We will do our best to accommodate everyone’s schedules. Majority rules.
You are required to attend all rehearsals.

We are currently collaborating with Film-maker David Cooper, Composer Garth Stevenson and of course Mother Earth!
Facilitated by Desirée deepen into the nourishing support of nature. Simple, yet profound the embodied processes will guide you home to your own inner wisdom.
Trees have the ability to see the light of your Soul and provide you with exactly what you need to hear.
Drawing on the power of the elements replenishes you body, mind and Soul and coming into a dance artistry practice with like-minded women reminds you of your intrinsic part to play in the web of life.
This is a Dezza Dance Residency Project supported in part by West Point Grey Community Association and Vancouver Parks Board.

Artist Bios
Desirée Dunbar, Creator, Founder, Artistic Director & Producer
Desirée is award winning Dance Artist and known for dancing in principal roles of over twenty new works by esteemed Canadian choreographers including Serge Bennathan, Anik Bouvrette, Santee Smith and David Earle while with Judith Garay’s, Dancers Dancing Repertory Company (Vancouver) from 2000- 2015. She and was featured on the front page of the Dance Current Magazine.
Ms. Dunbar created Dezza Dance in 2013 and has since then brought over twenty emerging professional dancers through Catalyst Mentorship Program, presented over fifteen emerging choreographers in the annual showcase, Leg Up! in partnership with Moberly Arts & Cultural Centre and created five full evening works featuring live string music that reached over 800 audience members.
A lead artist and facilitator with Arts & Health, Healthy Aging since 2015, she provides weekly workshops and performing opportunities for older adults 55+ in Collaborative Creative Dance.
Rachel Helten, Assistant
Rachel is a dance artist, choreographer, and teacher currently based on the unceded indigenous land belonging to the Coast Salish peoples, including the territories of the xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), Stó:lō (Stolo), and Səl̓ílwəta/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. (Vancouver, B.C.). In 2016, she completed her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance at Simon Fraser University. The cornerstones of Rachel Helten's creative practice are found in deep listening, collaboration, interdisciplinary methods and unearthing the stories that live within our bodies.
Eileen Fogarty-Ellis
Eileen is 72 years old and has been dancing one way or another for most of her life. She studied modern dance intensively in the ‘70’s as a young adult, including one year with a company in Victoria. Throughout the intervening years she has pursued her interest through workshops and classes. Eileen feels strongly that you can dance forever.
Lisa Jordan
Lisa's lifelong dance journey has taken her through the worlds of tap, ballet, jazz, various types of folk dance, theater, and music. Lisa eventually found Middle Eastern dance and taught and performed professionally for over 20 years as a soloist, member of Venus Bellydance, Ala Nar Middle Eastern Dance Troupe, and owner/director of Ammara Dance Company and Studio. She has performed nationally and internationally and has several TV appearances under her belt. Lisa has recently returned to the roots of her journey, rediscovering Ballet and exploring Contemporary and Lyrical forms of dance. She is currently studying Modern dance and the Graham technique as a member of Elan Dance under the direction of Desiree Dunbar.
Linda Rosenheck
Linda is 70 years old and began dancing over 9 years ago following her retirement from nursing . Initially she was doing creative improvisational dance but over the past 3-4 years has added Martha Graham training as well as intergenerational dance performances. Linda is continuing to train and perform with a focus of modern and improvisational dance.
Paula Shaw
After graduating from the Northern Ballet School, Manchester UK with a Dance Teachers Diploma Paula danced professionally with companies in England and Greece. Afterwards came twelve years of teaching dance at various schools in the Okanagan and Lower Mainland, with the technique and discipline of classical ballet being her main focus.
